[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Context

As part of the Ministerial Initiative on Alzheimer’s Disease and other major neurocognitive disorders, all CISSS and CIUSSS must ensure that mobile teams to manage behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) are established and able to function effectively.

To support those regions which do not yet have a fully formed team, the Centre of Excellence on Longevity acts as a centre of expertise, bringing together experts, tools, experiences and relevant best practices in creating and managing these teams. It achieves this by building on the general intervention framework defined by the organizational parameters set by the MSSS, which were published in 2014, then undertakes an analysis of the needs and resources that are available within the region to focus on those areas for development which are most relevant to, and will have the greatest impact on the relevant populations. This is an important piece of preparatory work, involving community interaction, making it possible to create a mobile, multidisciplinary BPSD team which is tailored to the needs of the community in which it operates.
